Cada vez más pacientes diabéticos requieren tratamiento renal sustitutivo (TRS) debido al fallo de sus riñones, y en España, un 36% de los pacientes que inician diálisis son diabéticos. La nefropatía diabética es la principal causa de insuficiencia renal, y el 76% de quienes inician hemodiálisis son diabéticos, quienes además tienen alto riesgo de desarrollar úlceras en los pies, que afectan al 15% de los diabéticos y resultan en amputaciones en el 85% de los casos.
Este estudio busca analizar los factores del pie diabético en pacientes en hemodiálisis del Hospital General San Juan de Dios en Oruro, donde se atienden 57 pacientes semanalmente. Aunque el hospital ofrece apoyo a estos pacientes, muchos enfrentan complicaciones relacionadas con el procedimiento, afectando su calidad de vida. Este aumento de pacientes se debe tanto al mejor manejo de enfermedades cardiovasculares, lo que retrasa las complicaciones diabéticas, como a criterios de inclusión más amplios para la diálisis. Dado que los diabéticos en diálisis son más vulnerables y con mayor mortalidad, requieren una atención especial. El estudio se centrará en las complicaciones y manejo específico para estos
pacientes.
